Police: Burglar Breaks Into Same Clifton Furniture Store 6 Times

CLIFTON, N.J. – A Clifton man broke into the same furniture store six times in under a week, stealing $10,000 in merchandise, said police who arrested him.

Detectives who began investigating last week after owners of the Furniture Signature store on Lakeview Avenue told them of the overnight break-ins identified 53-year-old David Merced, Sgt. Robert Anderson said Monday.

They arrested Merced at his home on Friday and charged him with six counts of burglary and one of theft.

Merced remained held in the Passaic County Jail on Monday after a detention hearing.
